Details
Lunar New Year is also widely known as the Spring Festival, Chinese New Year, Tet, or Solnal. This upcoming Lunar New Year takes place on Wednesday, January 29th, 2025! It is one of the largest celebrations for Canada’s Chinese population, and is also celebrated by Canadians from Vietnam, Korea and Southeast Asia. Each year of the Chinese lunar calendar is associated with one of the twelve animals of the Chinese zodiac, all of which have different characteristics. This new year we are welcoming the year of the Snake! The snake is associated with wisdom, charm, elegance, and transformation. People born in the Year of the Snake are believed to be intuitive, strategic, and intelligent. In this workshop you will learn: ~ Rolling and cutting slabs ~ Surface finishing ~ Decorating with stamps and surface texture Project Examples: ~ Sauce dish ~ Chopstick rest ~ Tea tumbler ~ Ceramic fortune cookies After this workshop your piece will be bisque fired and then you can return to glaze the piece during one of our "Glazing 101" workshops which is included in the cost of your class! It is a one-hour intro to glazing that will teach you how to glaze the piece you’ve made. Alternatively, you may choose a single color that we will glaze for you. After glazing, the piece will be fired in our kiln, and you can expect your piece to be ready for pickup 2-3 weeks after you have glazed. The sooner you come back to glaze, the sooner you will have your pieces! We will always contact you for pickup. REGISTRATION CLOSES ONLINE AT 9PM THE EVENING BEFORE THE SCHEDULED WORKSHOP. TO REGISTER ON THE DAY-OF THE WORKSHOP, PLEASE CALL US AT 778-757-3274.
