Faces on Vases/Mugs on Mugs

Friday, August 30th ~ 3-5pm OR 6-8pm

  • 60 Canadian dollars

Give your pots some personality! Ever wanted a smiling plant pot, or a grumpy mug? Make a standard vessel shape and sculpt an expressive face on the side. Add some eyes at the bottom of a soup bowl or a nose in the middle of a plate. The possibilities for creativity with this technique are endless! This process is fun and addicting, bringing life to every piece you make. A slightly more advanced class, recommended for people with some hand building experience. However our workshops are accessible and adaptable to all experience levels. In this class you will learn: ~ Slab or pinch hand building technique ~ How to make a basic functional vessel ~ Sculpting expressive facial features ~ Attaching features to the structure with slip After this workshop your piece will be bisque fired and then you can return to glaze the piece during one of our "Glazing 101" workshops which is included in the cost of your class! It is a one-hour intro to glazing that will teach you how to glaze the piece you’ve made. Alternatively, you may choose a single color that we will glaze for you. After glazing the piece will be glaze fired and you can expect your piece to be ready for pickup 2-3 weeks after you have glazed. We will always contact you for pickup.
