Our Kids’ Clay Classes have been designed to enrich your child’s creativity through ceramic creation and to teach the basics of hand building. Each week brings a unique project to keep your child continually interested and engaged! These creative classes make the perfect activity to keep your little one in a routine, or as a wonderful exercise in young talent and creativity! Over the two weeks of playing in clay, they will learn basic hand building technique for ceramics; which acts as a wonderful foundation for further development of their pottery skills. The final week will be for glazing all of the pieces they’ve made in the previous weeks. After the pieces have been glazed, the pieces will be glaze fired and ready for pickup approximately 2-3 weeks after the initial workshop. We will always contact you via email for pickup. This four-week session also includes our brand NEW acrylic beach scene workshop that will introduce your child to a unique way of painting! Acrylic pouring is incredibly beginner-friendly and can often create dramatic, colourful artworks. This painting class is oriented to young artists ages 6 to 12 who are eager to learn new painting techniques. Pour painting has been around since the 1930's and explores various consistencies and densities of fluids, and it expands on how physics can be implemented in their painting! In this class, your child will learn how to use pouring mediums effectively, utilize gravity for paint coverage, apply additional tools for various painting effects, and incorporate sand to add dimension to their piece. They will take home a completed painting at the end of the class that's ready to hang! Project Schedule: July 6 ~ Handprint Dish July 13 ~ Ladybug Plant Pot July 20 ~ Glazing July 27 ~ Beach Painting Children under six years old should be accompanied by an adult unless they are able to be left with their instructor with no behavioral support. This is to keep class distractions at a minimum to keep class fun and make sure everyone is learning. A parent is welcome to stay without participating in the class to act as guidance or provide assistance during instruction. Please refer to our "Teaching Philosophy" page for more information about how we approach teaching your child.
