Level 2 - Focus on Function
ACCEPTING 2025 WAITLIST
Details
This course will run again in the new year. Please email us to be added to the waitlist: info@eccentricartiststudio.com Did you take our beginner hand building course (or have 18 hours of recent instruction) and absolutely fall in love with making functional pieces like kitchen wares? Then, this four-week course is a perfect place to continue honing your craft in functionality. In this interpretation of our previous Level 2 course, you will continue to work with traditional hand building construction techniques with a focus on practical, functional design and refining your finishing skills. Now that you’re past the beginner stages, we will have you planning, building, and glazing your perfect vessel by the end of your time with us. Make your ideal mug, bowl, catch-all, or whatever functional piece speaks to you. Refine the technique for add-ons like handles, feet, angles of the outer rim, shape and size to achieve consistent results. We will have our studio examples; however, you will be expected to bring in your OWN inspirations to create something you are excited about taking home! This is intended to help you bring out your own style while getting a better grasp on functional construction. If you have very specific ideas for your pieces in mind, please bring them to your class and work with your instructor on how to execute them! You will be able to create 2-3 pieces by the end of the course, depending on size and complexity; the goal is to take home pieces that YOU want to make. Here’s what to look forward to in this course: • Planning projects with functional design • Refining your skills to create personalized pieces • Developing skills to create consistent work • Gaining advanced skills to use advanced tools during Open Studio As always, we are here to give you a BOOST of confidence and guidance as you continue your journey into the world of creating with clay. When the class is finished, please feel welcome to use the Eccentric Artist Studio and our advanced tools as resources to continue your journey into the vast world of clay.
