Make a cozy, personalized home for your plant friend that is perfect for your home decor! Create a functional, yet entirely custom plant pot with a drainage hole (or not). From small to medium planters, in this class you will take something home that you can fill with life. Begin your workshop by choosing from our three different colours of clay; white, speckled buff, or terracotta and then decorate your new ashes dish with over 100 colour choices! All materials and instruction are always included in our workshop fees, so bring your best ideas and your patient instructor will help you along every step of the way! In this workshop you will learn: ~ Roll out a clay slab ~ Create a slab cylinder ~ Attach a base using scratch and slip ~ Creating drainage holes and feet ~ Decorating techniques and glazing Our clay discovery classes have been curated to teach the basics of hand building. You will be amazed with what you can make with just your hands and some clay! This is a great introduction to pottery without making a multi-week commitment. All discovery classes are adaptable for beginners or those with more advanced skills and experience. After this workshop your piece will be bisque fired and then you can return to glaze the piece during one of our "Glazing 101" workshops which is included in the cost of your class! It is a one-hour intro to glazing that will teach you how to glaze the piece you have made. Alternatively, you may choose a single color that we will glaze for you. After glazing the piece will be glaze fired, and you can expect your piece to be ready for pickup 2-3 weeks after you have glazed. We will always contact you to pick up.
