Begin one creative process with another! Hand build a paint palette and accompanying water cup that is completely customizable to your painting needs. We've sculpted little sea creatures to live in our tidepools that act as unique brush rests. Once you're finished creating, enjoy your new micro-environment that mirrors the beautiful West Coast! Begin your workshop by choosing from our three different colours of clay; white, speckled buff, or terracotta and then decorate your new palette with over 100 colour choices! All materials and instruction are always included in our workshop fees, so bring your best ideas and your patient instructor will help you along every step of the way! In this workshop you will learn how to: ~ Roll and cut clay slabs ~ Carve out areas of slabs for paint wells ~ Use slabs to build a water cup ~ Use coils to build up short walls ~ Sculpt miniature sea life ~ Surface finish to minimize harsh edges After this workshop your piece will be bisque fired and then you can return to glaze the piece during one of our "Glazing 101" workshops which is included in the cost of your class! It is a 1.5-hour intro to glazing that will teach you how to glaze the piece you have made. Alternatively, you may choose a single colour that we will glaze for you. After glazing, the piece will be fired in our kiln, and you can expect your piece to be ready for pickup 2-3 weeks after you have glazed. The sooner you come back to glaze, the sooner you will have your pieces! We will always contact you for pickup. Our clay discovery classes have been curated to teach a basic technique of hand building. You will be amazed with what you can make with just your hands and some clay!
