Tuesday, Jan 6th ~ 1:30-4:30 or 6-9pm
Details
Learn how to create a stunning centerpiece for your kitchen that’s as functional as it is full of bold personality. In this workshop, you’ll shape soft clay into a bold, beautiful bowl that feels right at home on your dining table or in daily use. Guided by your own creativity, you’ll form and finish a piece that reflects your style and carries the quiet satisfaction of something made by hand. Begin your workshop by choosing from our three different colours of clay; white, speckled buff, or our seasonal feature clay. Then come back to decorate your new Beach Rock Bowls with our over 100 colour choices! All materials and instruction are always included in our workshop fees, so bring your best ideas and your patient instructor will help you along every step of the way! In this class you will learn how to: ~ Roll out and cut clay slabs ~ Create a bowl using a slump form ~ Surface finishing ~ Optimizing functionality of your piece ~ Decorating with stamps, textures and glazes After this workshop your piece will be bisque fired and then you can return to glaze the piece during one of our "Glazing 101" workshops which is included in the cost of your class! It is a 1.5 hour intro to glazing that will teach you how to glaze the piece you have made. Alternatively, you may choose a single colour that we will glaze for you. After glazing, the piece will be fired in our kiln, and you can expect your piece to be ready for pickup 2-3 weeks after you have glazed. The sooner you come back to glaze, the sooner you will have your pieces! We will always contact you for pickup. Our clay discovery classes have been curated to teach a basic technique of hand building. You will be amazed with what you can make with just your hands and some clay! This is a great introduction to pottery without making a multi-week commitment.
