Create your very own vessel in the shape of whatever sparks your imagination. In this workshop, any creature, character, or form can come to life in clay! In three hours, your hand-built ceramic creation will emerge alive with personality, energy, and your own unique details and textures. Take inspiration from our examples, like weenie dogs, selkies, seals, or rabbits, or let your imagination run wild and create something entirely new. We've even had a student make a bathtub! Every Extend-O-Pet is a reflection of your creativity, a little piece of wonder shaped by your hands, and the possibilities are endless. Begin your workshop by choosing from our three different colours of clay; white, speckled buff, or our seasonal feature clay. Then come back to decorate your new Extend-O-Pet with our over 100 colour choices! All materials and instruction are always included in our workshop fees, so bring your best ideas and your patient instructor will help you along every step of the way! You can copy and paste this link into your browser to check out our Pinterest page for even more inspiration: https://ca.pinterest.com/eccentricartiststudio/class-inspo/extend-o-pet/ In this workshop you will learn how to: ~ Construct a long animal using the pinch technique ~ Sculpt animal features to attach ~ Decorate with stamps, carving, and glazes ~ Finish surfaces to minimize sharp areas ~ Optimize the functionality of your piece Project Examples: ~ Anything with a head and tail ~ Anything with a front and back After this workshop your piece(s) will be bisque fired and then you can return to glaze during one of our "Glazing 101" workshops which is included in the cost of your class! It is a 1.5 hour intro to glazing that will teach you how to glaze the piece(s) you have made. Alternatively, you may choose a single colour that we will glaze for you. After glazing, the piece(s) will be fired in our kiln, and you can expect them to be ready for pickup 2-3 weeks after you have glazed. The sooner you come back to glaze, the sooner you can take them home to enjoy! We will always contact you for pickup. Our clay discovery classes have been curated to teach the basics of hand building. You will be amazed with what you can make with just your hands and some clay! This is a great introduction to pottery without making a multi-week commitment. All discovery classes are adaptable for beginners or those with more advanced skills and experience.
