A garlic grater and/or herb stripper is a super fun project for beginners, foodies, or anyone who loves adding fresh flavor to their cooking. Learn how to create a functional kitchen tool that makes grating garlic and stripping herbs quick and easy. Every student will make a custom, one-of-a-kind tool, PLUS you get the everyday satisfaction of cooking with something handmade by you. In this workshop you will have time to make two pieces, one garlic grater and one herb stripper, or two dual-purpose pieces. Begin your workshop by choosing from our three different colours of clay; white, speckled buff, or our seasonal feature clay. Then come back to decorate your new kitchen tools with our over 100 colour choices! All materials and instruction are always included in our workshop fees, so bring your best ideas and your patient instructor will help you along every step of the way! In this class you will learn how to: ~ Pinch a small bowl/dish ~ Add a grater or herb-stripping element ~ Decorate with stamps, carving, and glazes ~ Finish surfaces to minimize sharp areas ~ Optimize the functionality of your piece After this workshop your piece(s) will be bisque fired and then you can return to glaze during one of our "Glazing 101" workshops which is included in the cost of your class! It is a 1.5 hour intro to glazing that will teach you how to glaze the piece(s) you have made. Alternatively, you may choose a single colour that we will glaze for you. After glazing, the piece(s) will be fired in our kiln, and you can expect them to be ready for pickup 2-3 weeks after you have glazed. The sooner you come back to glaze, the sooner you can take them home to enjoy! We will always contact you for pickup. Our clay discovery classes have been curated to teach a basic technique of hand building. You will be amazed with what you can make with just your hands and some clay!
