A perfect gift for the incense lover in your life or a sacred promise to yourself. As February unfolds under Imbolc’s returning light, the season of sparks, seeds, and quiet beginnings, it is the perfect time to create a piece for smoke, ritual, and renewal. In this workshop, you will hand-build your own ceramic incense burner, a functional and personal piece designed to hold stick or cone incense and gently anchor fragrant smoke in your space. You can decorate your burner with flames, suns, snowdrops, moons, hearts, season-inspired symbols, mystical creatures, or any shapes and patterns that speak to you. Whether your style is simple and elegant or playful and enchanted, your piece will be completely unique! There is enough time to create up to two burners, depending on size and complexity, one to keep for your own rituals and one to gift as a blessing. Begin your workshop by choosing from our three different colours of clay; white, speckled buff, or our seasonal feature clay and then decorate your new burners with over 100 colour choices! All materials and instruction are always included in our workshop fees, so bring your best ideas and your patient instructor will help you along every step of the way! You can copy and paste this link into your browser to check out our Pinterest page for even more inspiration: https://ca.pinterest.com/eccentricartiststudio/class-inspo/incense-holders/ In this workshop you will learn how to: ~ Roll out a clay slab ~ Pinch a small bowl/dish ~ Decorate with stamps, carving, and glazes ~ Finish surfaces to minimize sharp areas ~ Optimize the functionality of your piece Project examples include: ~ Cone incense burner ~ Stick incense burner After this workshop your piece(s) will be bisque fired and then you can return to glaze during one of our "Glazing 101" workshops which is included in the cost of your class! It is a 1.5 hour intro to glazing that will teach you how to glaze the piece(s) you have made. Alternatively, you may choose a single colour that we will glaze for you. After glazing, the piece(s) will be fired in our kiln, and you can expect them to be ready for pickup 2-3 weeks after you have glazed. The sooner you come back to glaze, the sooner you can take them home to enjoy! We will always contact you for pickup.
