In this class, you’ll craft a mug that’s more than just a vessel but a reflection of your spirit. Shape your piece by hand, grounding it into the earth, and infuse it with your own energy. Personalize it with meaningful details; patterns, faces, symbols, nature-inspired elements, or small creatures that transform your mug into a reflection of your unique style. As you work, you’ll tap into the flow of your intuition, allowing the energies around you to guide your design. Whether channeling ancient symbols, hidden wisdom, or playful magic, your mug will become a vessel of personal power. Once complete, it will be your companion and serve as a reminder of your creative energy, every sip a moment of connection to your inner world. Begin your workshop by choosing from our three different colours of clay; white, speckled buff, or our seasonal feature clay. Then come back to decorate your new Mug with Personality with our over 100 colour choices! All materials and instruction are always included in our workshop fees, so bring your best ideas and your patient instructor will help you along every step of the way! In this workshop you will learn how to: ~ Roll out a clay slab ~ Create a slab cylinder ~ Attach a base using scratch and slip ~ Create simple handles ~ Sculpt features to add to your vessel ~ Decorate with stamps, carving, and glazes ~ Surface finish to minimize harsh edges After this workshop your piece(s) will be bisque fired and then you can return to glaze during one of our "Glazing 101" workshops which is included in the cost of your class! It is a 1.5 hour intro to glazing that will teach you how to glaze the piece(s) you have made. Alternatively, you may choose a single colour that we will glaze for you. After glazing, the piece(s) will be fired in our kiln, and you can expect them to be ready for pickup 2-3 weeks after you have glazed. The sooner you come back to glaze, the sooner you can take them home to enjoy! We will always contact you for pickup. Our clay discovery classes have been curated to teach the basics of hand building. You will be amazed with what you can make with just your hands and some clay! This is a great introduction to pottery without making a multi-week commitment. All discovery classes are adaptable for beginners or those with more advanced skills and experience.
