Details

Begin one creative process with another by hand building a paint palette and matching water cup designed to flow with your artistic energy! In this workshop, you will shape and personalize your set using hand-building techniques that are approachable for all skill levels. Your tools become an extension of your creativity, carrying intention and a touch of your spirit into every brushstroke. Add texture, carve patterns, or sculpt small additions to create unique resting places for your brushes and playful details that spark inspiration. By the end, you will have a set that not only supports your painting practice but also carries the quiet magic of your hands, your imagination, and the creative energy you brought to it. Begin your workshop by choosing from our three different colours of clay; white, speckled buff, or our seasonal feature clay. Then come back to decorate your new Paint Palette and Water Cup with our over 100 colour choices! All materials and instruction are always included in our workshop fees, so bring your best ideas and your patient instructor will help you along every step of the way! You can copy and paste this link into your browser to check out our Pinterest page for even more palette inspiration: https://ca.pinterest.com/eccentricartiststudio/class-inspo/paint-palettes/ In this workshop you will learn how to: ~ Roll out clay slabs ~ Shape your paint palette ~ Create a small water cup ~ Use coils to build up short walls ~ Decorate with stamps, carving, and glazes ~ Finish surfaces to minimize sharp areas ~ Optimize the functionality of your piece After this workshop your piece will be bisque fired and then you can return to glaze the piece during one of our "Glazing 101" workshops which is included in the cost of your class! It is a 1.5-hour intro to glazing that will teach you how to glaze the piece you have made. Alternatively, you may choose a single colour that we will glaze for you. After glazing, the piece will be fired in our kiln, and you can expect your piece to be ready for pickup 2-3 weeks after you have glazed. The sooner you come back to glaze, the sooner you will have your pieces! We will always contact you for pickup. Our clay discovery classes have been curated to teach a basic technique of hand building. You will be amazed with what you can make with just your hands and some clay! This is a great introduction to pottery without making a multi-week commitment.
