This workshop is part of our Triple Goddess series, moving with the Wheel of the Year and honouring the cycles of becoming, being, and release. Guided by the quiet wisdom of the season, we will work with stones shaped by Mother Nature herself, using them as sacred collaborators in our clay work. Each rock offers its own curves, textures, and story as clay wraps around it, holding, echoing, and learning its form. Once the stone is released, you are left with an organically formed altar dish, a vessel born from earth meeting earth. Smoke cleansing is a practice found across many cultures, used to shift energy, clear stagnant air, and mark moments of transition. Our focus will be on mindful making rather than instruction in use. You will thoughtfully gather, arrange, and bind dried herbs or greenery into a bundle that feels aligned with your own intentions, ready to accompany your personal rituals, reflections, or seasonal transitions. Begin your workshop by choosing from our three different colours of clay; white, speckled buff, or terracotta and then decorate your new altar dish with over 100 colour choices! All materials and instruction are always included in our workshop fees, so bring your best ideas and your patient instructor will help you along every step of the way! In this workshop you will learn how to: ~ Roll out a clay slab ~ Use a slump-mould to create a form ~ Decorate with stamps, carving, and glazes ~ Finish surfaces to minimize sharp areas ~ Optimize the functionality of your piece ~ Create an herb bundle for burning After this workshop your piece will be bisque fired and then you can return to glaze the piece during one of our "Glazing 101" workshops which is included in the cost of your class! It is a 1.5-hour intro to glazing that will teach you how to glaze the piece you have made. Alternatively, you may choose a single colour that we will glaze for you. After glazing, the piece will be fired in our kiln, and you can expect your piece to be ready for pickup 2-3 weeks after you have glazed. The sooner you come back to glaze, the sooner you will have your pieces! We will always contact you for pickup.
