Let the West Coast winds do the dancing. In this workshop, you’ll create ceramic sound makers of your own design, crafted to sing when the breeze moves through them. Take inspiration from our samples, the wider web, or the quiet nudge of your own creative spirit. Fish have been a favourite in the past, but any shape can be transformed into a beautiful, chiming talisman. From cowboys to baby mobiles, keys, flowers, and beyond, no two wind chimes are ever the same. Then come back to decorate your new windchimes with over 100 colour choices! This workshop includes 6 feet of white string for you to hang your windchime pieces. All materials and instruction are always included in our workshop fees, so bring your best ideas and your patient instructor will help you along every step of the way! In this workshop you will learn how to: ~ Roll out a clay slab ~ Decorate with stamps, carving, and glazes ~ Finish surfaces to minimize sharp areas ~ Optimize the functionality of your piece After this workshop your piece will be bisque fired and then you can return to glaze the piece during one of our "Glazing 101" workshops which is included in the cost of your class! It is a 1.5 hour intro to glazing that will teach you how to glaze the piece you have made. Alternatively, you may choose a single colour that we will glaze for you. After glazing, the piece will be fired in our kiln, and you can expect your piece to be ready for pickup 2-3 weeks after you have glazed. The sooner you come back to glaze, the sooner you will have your pieces! We will always contact you for pickup. Our clay discovery classes have been curated to teach a basic technique of hand building. You will be amazed with what you can make with just your hands and some clay! This is a great introduction to pottery without making a multi-week commitment.
