Combine one art with another! Create a custom ceramic yarn bowl and stitch markers to give you cozy company while you knit or crochet. If you don’t know how to craft with yarn, think about making one as a thoughtful gift for someone in your life who does! Trust us, it will become a new staple while they work away on their projects. Begin your workshop by choosing from our three different colours of clay; white, speckled buff, or our seasonal feature clay. Then come back to decorate your new yarn bowl and up to 12 stitch-marking beads with our over 100 colour choices! All materials and instruction are always included in our workshop fees, so bring your best ideas and your patient instructor will help you along every step of the way! You can copy and paste this link into your browser to check out our Pinterest page for even more inspiration: https://ca.pinterest.com/eccentricartiststudio/class-inspo/yarn-bowls/ In this workshop you will learn how to: ~ Roll out and work with a clay slab ~ Decorating with stamps, carving, surface texture and glazes ~ Create a yarn-dispenser (punched hole or carved out) ~ Create small beads as stitch markers ~ Finish surfaces to minimize unwanted harsh edges ~ Optimize the functionality of your piece After this workshop your piece will be bisque fired and then you can return to glaze the piece during one of our "Glazing 101" workshops which is included in the cost of your class! It is a 1.5 hour intro to glazing that will teach you how to glaze the piece you have made. Alternatively, you may choose a single colour that we will glaze for you. After glazing, the piece will be fired in our kiln, and you can expect your piece to be ready for pickup 2-3 weeks after you have glazed. The sooner you come back to glaze, the sooner you will have your pieces! We will always contact you for pickup. Our clay discovery classes have been curated to teach a basic technique of hand building. You will be amazed with what you can make with just your hands and some clay! This is a great introduction to pottery without making a multi-week commitment.
