Take advantage of the windy West Coast and create sound makers of your own design! Gain inspiration from our samples, the world wide web, or your own creative mind. Our most popular windchime designs in the past has been fish, however, you can make any shape into a beautiful windchime! Check out photos below of a themes like cowboys, baby mobiles, keys, flowers and more. You can almost hear the glorious sounds of ceramics chiming in your near future... Begin your workshop by choosing from our three different colours of clay; white, speckled buff, or our seasonal feature clay. Then come back to decorate your new windchimes with over 100 colour choices! This workshop includes 6 feet of white string for you to hang your windchime pieces. All materials and instruction are always included in our workshop fees, so bring your best ideas and your patient instructor will help you along every step of the way! In this workshop you will learn: ~ How to roll and cut a slab ~ Customizing shapes to hang vertically ~ Surface decoration and finishing ~ How to optimize functionality in a ceramic sound maker After this workshop your piece will be bisque fired and then you can return to glaze the piece during one of our "Glazing 101" workshops which is included in the cost of your class! It is a 1.5 hour intro to glazing that will teach you how to glaze the piece you have made. Alternatively, you may choose a single colour that we will glaze for you. After glazing, the piece will be fired in our kiln, and you can expect your piece to be ready for pickup 2-3 weeks after you have glazed. The sooner you come back to glaze, the sooner you will have your pieces! We will always contact you for pickup. Our clay discovery classes have been curated to teach a basic technique of hand building. You will be amazed with what you can make with just your hands and some clay!
