BEGINNER FRIENDLY BUT NOT BEGINNER ONLY!! EVERYONE WILL LEARN SOMETHING AND HAVEFUN! These ornaments have been designed to remain white (unglazed), if you are interested in glazed ornaments please see our "Traditional Ornaments" workshop. A little unconventional, a little luminous, and entirely your own. In this workshop, you’ll transform porcelain clay into a collection of Christmas ornaments that catch the light beautifully, especially when the sun finds them hanging in a window. Think traditional Christmas shapes, curious little creatures, unusual patterns, or something that exists only in your imagination. We’ll provide an assortment of cookie cutters, textures, and tools to get you started, but you’re welcome to bring your own shapes, patterns, or other bits of inspiration along. Make as many ornaments as you can during the class, experimenting with impressions, details, and designs that give each piece its own character. Whether they end up on your Christmas tree, catching winter light in a window, or wrapped up for someone who appreciates something a little different, these porcelain creations will be ready in time for the holidays. Come make a few familiar favourites, invent something unexpected, or happily wander somewhere in between. These ornaments will be fired twice with no glaze to maintain its translucency and capture the delicate nature of porcelain. In this workshop you will learn how to: ~ Roll out a clay slab ~ Decorate with stamps, textures, and carving ~ Finish surfaces to minimize sharp areas After your workshop, your ornaments will be fired in our kiln twice, and you can expect your piece to be ready for pickup 2-3 weeks after you've made them.
