BEGINNER FRIENDLY! PERFECT FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE NEVER TOUCHED CLAY BEFORE This is a relaxed, hands-on experience where you’ll leave with something unique and entirely your own. All materials provided. Small class size and patient instructors. Carve a unique, meaningful design into a plate made of fresh clay! The sgraffito technique is an ancient way of illustrating on clay with high contrast. Depending on your skill level and design choice, you may be able to create two medium sized (15cm) plates or two to three graduated plates (one each of 18 cm, 15 cm and 10 cm) in this workshop. Upon registration, you will receive a printable template with true-to-size areas to plan your image. You are welcome to print a design to copy onto your piece or show off your creativity with an original design! The diameter of available design space on each size of plate is as follows: Small 6.5cm, Medium 11cm, Large 13cm. Have fun picking from over 25 colours as a basecoat before you carve away at the thin top layer of glaze to reveal the natural tone of the clay underneath.
