If you didn't know, we rent kiln space in The Eccentric Studio for ceramicists who practice at home or outside of our studio. It can be a struggle sometimes having "outsiders" follow our in-depth studio procedures, HOWEVER, it has been so rewarding and interesting seeing others' work flow in and out of the studio when it sticks!
We have some busy kiln renters that are constantly cranking out pieces to sell or act as a step in the evolution of their work! Our most favourite part of having outside work being brought in is seeing the incredible range of pieces. They range in style, shape, clay, experience, glazing, and in so many other ways! Each collection of pieces are unique and we also get the pleasure of seeing each artist's changes in their craft. One of the coolest things we offer those who have rented space to fire their greenware, is that you can glaze using our supply during Open Studio and your glaze firing is COVERED in your Open Studio fee! We've had lots of cool glaze combinations tried out by kiln renters who have glazed their pieces in-house.
